Where Are RAM Trucks Made?
Drivers praise RAM trucks for their unmatched strength and rugged durability during grueling Knoxville hauls. Whether you own a brand-new RAM or a reliable pre-owned model from Lenoir City Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, you already recognize that these pickups have built a formidable reputation for their heavy-duty towing capabilities over the years. But the question remains: is RAM truly American-made, or are these tough trucks rolling off assembly lines overseas?
Rest assured, RAM trucks are proudly manufactured right here in America. You can find your very own RAM truck at our dealership, conveniently located in the heart of the greater Oak Ridge area. While we showcase these powerful trucks on our lot, it’s important to note that we do not partake in their production. Is RAM American-Made?
Where is the RAM 1500 made? The RAM 1500 is currently manufactured in the Stellantis Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The facility was built in 1953 by the U.S. military and originally was a jet engine plant, where jet parts and missiles were assembled. In 1980, it was turned into an automobile plant by Volkswagen, and then it was bought by Chrysler in 1983.
In 2016, FCA invested over $1.5 billion into the plant to build RAM 1500 models and expand the reach of the RAM brand. 700 new jobs were created following this announcement, and in 2024, Stellantis announced it was going to invest $235 million into producing the first-of-its-kind 2025 RAM 1500 REV light-duty truck. The 2025 RAM 1500 Ramcharger will also be built at the Stellantis plant in Sterling Heights.
Currently, the Stellantis Sterling Heights Assembly Plant has 5 million square feet and is over 280 acres.
Where Are RAM Trucks Made Besides Michigan?
The RAM 1500 is made in Michigan, but the heavier-duty models, like the RAM 2500 and 3500, are made in Stellantis Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Saltillo, Mexico. This facility was built in 1995, and the first line of RAM heavy-duty models was built here in 2005. This facility isn’t quite as big as the Michigan location, but it still has over 200,000 square feet and nearly 50 acres.
The good news is that you don’t have to travel to Mexico or even Sterling Heights, Michigan. If you’re in the Athens area, you can visit our dealership to test-drive a RAM 1500 from our inventory.
